I am no first time traveller... and I'm fully aware that it is recommended you arrive 2 hours prior to a flight when flying internationally. But the lack of sleep got the best of me and I arrived an hour before the departure of my flight, and boy was that a mistake.
There is nothing worse than arriving to a long stagnant huddled line of travelers waiting to check in and be processed 45 mins before departure. As soon as we pulled up to the airport I saw the massive crowd in front of Copa Airlines' check in and replied once again to a question asked an hour earlier, "that is why you need to be earlier for international flights versus domestic."
I really thought I wasn't getting on my flight. In fact, I was sure of it.

When I reached the counter to check in the process began normally. I proceeded to answer the questions like "what's your name? Where are you going? When are you coming back?" And by the time the Q&A session was completed it was 5:27. My flight was scheduled to leave in 33 minutes and I still hadn't gone through security check point. I was still standing in front of this woman who was fiddling with the computer trying to register my bag and put it on plane. I began to feel nervous, but I was chill 'cause I thought, worse come to worse I'll catch the next flight and get a voucher. I asked about the next flight headed out and the manager she called over to remedy the technical difficulties said there were NONE.
HOLY F*&#!
MISSIN THIS FLIGHT WILL SCREW UP EVERYTHING!
But the manager reassured me he would walk me to the gate. At 5:50 another woman comes to write me a hand written boarding pass... I'm giving all the side eye in the world in aode my head, because seriously... who is going to let me into their country with a hand written boarding pass?
She spelled my name wrong, crossed out letters and spelled it wrong several times over. And as she butchered the ticket the computer decided it was done having an attitude and spit out 3 tickets for all of my connecting flights...
At this point my plane should have been boarded by all other passengers. As soon the women put the boarding passes in my had ahe said leta go and we began running. Ran through to TSA stopped ao we didn't get pummeled, cut the line, stripped got scanned, didnt have to get my hair checked for once, grabbed my belongings, redressed and ran to the gate.
Apparently things moved so slowly this morning that despite my tardiness and being the last passenger at check in, I still was not the last on my flight.
Copa gave me a lil scare this morning... but after a nap on the fight they made up for it with a breakfast that I was thoroughly impressed by!
